I’ll be the first to admit I am a 4130 movement super fan. In my mind the greatest modern movement will always be the 4130. That is the be all, end all Rolex show of their first in-house chronograph movement. To me it was so ahead of its time and built in an era of a different Rolex company.

The "best" chrono movement I ever had was in an Omega SMP 2225.80 (cal 1164 - which is a modified V7750)- it was dead flat accurate for 6 months + - 0 (and kept that same variance when I ran the chrono for 2 weeks straight just to screw with it). "best" Rolex movement I've ever had was a 30 year old 1570 in a TT 1601 - same accuracy. Not completely true the only main difference is the power-reserve by making the spring-barrel much thinner that the 31 series movements. And service even with the 31 series is now the same around 10 years depending on use, and movement is no more durable than any Rolex movement made in the past 40 plus years. _____

Although Rolex and many others make very fine movements,over the many years there have been quite a few mediocre in-house movements from a few Swiss brands.There is a misconception with ETA now in most of there movements they make 5 grades the two top chronometer grade can be as accurate and long lasting as any other Swiss made watch.Fact .

The cal 3000 was exactly the same movement that was used in the Explorer that was COSC tested.Same for all of the 14060M all exactly the same movement whether tested or not.Today being COSC tested is mainly a marketing tool,and means very little today.Take the Chinese made Seagull ST 19 movement when regulated correctly can even match the new . Fascinating as always, from the latest Rolex Magazine Issue #11: The article, "Geography of Excellence": From COSC certification of -4/+6 from which the watch, "then heads for Superlative Control, located in the underground floors of the Acacias site." The Superlative Chronometer on Rolex watches, "the criteria are strict. I doubt Rolex cares. I doubt most “normal” customers even notice. Most people don’t even know what models they have and don’t go about checking its accuracy. I don’t understand why this is so hard for Rolex to rectify though. interesting that when all was said and done, the reviewer still liked the 2892 the best. True. But I also thought it funny that really his only knock on the 3135 could be eliminated by regular service to replace used lube.

Modified 9 years ago. Viewed 158k times. 30. I'm using Debian squeeze, and running LVM on top of software RAID 1. I just accidentally just discovered that most of the links under /dev/mapper are missing, though my system seems to be still functioning correctly. I'm not sure what happened.
